When you’re selling your home, you want prospective buyers to walk in and feel a strong emotional connection. Each home presents a different brief and calls for a different stylistic approach. Whether you’re selling a villa, bungalow or modern house, clever home staging is all about accentuating strengths and creating a cohesive feel throughout, so that prospective buyers are blown away and quickly imagine themselves living in a space.
Warm, welcoming and luxurious
As well as being smart and luxurious, a modern home needs to feel warm and welcoming. Earthy or neutral tones, with the addition of natural materials like wood, rattan and stone lend warmth and a sense of serenity to an interior. Fresh flowers and living plants also breathe life into a space, helping turn an impeccable house into an inviting home.
Inspired by existing features
While neutral tones help create an inviting, harmonious space, the existing features of a home naturally influence the colours and stylistic approach. Recently we staged a large modern home with a stunning black tiled fireplace. Inspired by this grand centrepiece, we went with a black and white theme throughout, adding texture and warmth through the use of luxurious soft furnishings like velvet cushions.
Imbued with character
It’s important that the styling is sympathetic to the character of a home. With villas, typically there is already plenty of colour. So, rather than add colour, we use texture and pattern in the soft furnishings to elevate a space and create cohesion. The age and character of a home also dictate the sort of furniture that works – sofas with peg legs are out of place in a villa while those with skirts fit right in.
Regardless of the type, age or size of the home, creating an impactful, harmonious interior hinges on getting all the details right. At The Finishing Touches, it’s a creative challenge we relish.
