The Golden Season for Selling Homes

There’s a perception that homes are easier to sell during summer. However, we love the lower lighting and moodier vibes that autumn and winter bring to a property. Leaning into the atmosphere, our staging ramps up the very best of seasonal feels.

Autumn Reflections

We love autumn and, living in the Garden City, we know just how well Christchurch embraces the changing of the seasons. We’re lucky that while our natural lighting lowers, it doesn’t entirely dissipate like in the Northern Hemisphere. Instead, we enjoy golden days, amber parks and crunchy leaves underfoot. It’s a time of year that our wardrobes become chunkier and increasingly tactile, and, just like fashion, our homes should follow suit.

Influenced by our natural surroundings, it makes sense to replicate the very best of what we see and experience outside, bringing it inside for a harmonious and connected aesthetic.

Lighting the Way

Our home staging is considered and curated. We style according to architecture and location, and we style sympathetically to the season. We often embrace texture and warmer tones during autumn, and the chillier seasons always see us playing with lighting!

Through pockets of tonal warmth, our lighting creates ambiance, particularly when layered. And this is why our staging embodies a liberal sprinkling of gorgeous table and standard lamps. In fact, we’ve just updated our stock with simply exquisite new lamps and we can’t wait to use them!

Lighting Done Differently

We never cut corners and, apart from looking incredible, that’s why you’ll find we like to incorporate double oversized bedside lamps. They’re punchy and dynamic, yet symmetrical and balanced, a statement in style that enhances any bedroom.

However, the devil is in the detail…and for us, the devil is a lamp that works! Not only are our bulbs fresh, but we also come armed with discreet extension cords. More than a mere accessory, we sell the complete dream: a pocket of light for night-time reading, a quiet corner for feeding the baby, ambient lighting that tells an emotive story.

Turning to the Dark Side

Not all rooms are meant to be light, bright and airy. We love to embrace the dark side of a home and have achieved beautiful outcomes, particularly in character homes.

Take, for example, a 1920s property with dark panelled walls. When asked if the owner should paint them out, our response was a definitive no. Styled in high-end luxury furnishings, the final touch to the room was the lighting. Layers of soft lamp light enhanced the architectural features and the dark panelling, recognising the character of the room and creating a moody and atmospheric ambiance. Working sympathetically with the style of the home, we leaned into the dark side, creating a cocooning space that will envelop its future owners as they settle in for cozy winter evenings.

So, whether it’s a light-filled contemporary property or a dark and moody character home that’s been drenched in deepest hues, we know how to harness its appeal, tripping the light fantastic no matter the time of year!
