The idea that being in nature can positively affect our mental health is not a new one. And with the summer holiday season just around the corner, let’s embrace the outdoors with these tips for home styling your own backyard.
Courtyards
Whatever size or shape your outdoor space is, I recommend keeping things light with open-style furniture to keep the illusion of space. Adding plenty of comfort cushions can really add that wholesome feel. Anything that creates harmony with nature is the way to go.
Mediterranean
By entertaining all of our senses, we’ll have plenty to be grateful for. To create a Mediterranean feel, consider using stone and aged-metal accessories. Antique pots also look great, and why not plant an olive tree in a large pot for that added sensory exploration?
Coastal
If you’re lucky enough to live by the sea, you may want to extend this theme by using weathered timber or rope in your outdoor space. Add some wicker furniture with navy-striped canvas cushions and rattan rugs, and the look will start to take shape.
Holiday time
Wherever you end up spending your summer holidays this year, all of us at The Finishing Touches would like to wish you safe and happy holidays. We hope you get some well-deserved time off to put your feet up and enjoy your outdoor living.
