Stay Ahead of Fads and Never Go Out of Fashion
There’s a fine line between fashion and fads. Fashion develops gradually, a cyclical movement that’s sustainable and lasts over time. A fad, however, is here today, gone tomorrow.
At The Finishing Touches, we know how important it is to stay abreast of fashion and we proudly steer clear of the fads! For us, it’s all about skipping the gimmicks and focusing on what’s important – staging with style. However, that doesn’t happen by accident. We’re constantly exploring and evolving so that your properties are ‘now-worthy’, all the while retaining a charm that’s elevated and polished.
So, what do we see ahead of us? It’s all about showcasing your home in its best possible light and we work hard so your property appeals to the greatest range of people. Our collection is researched and proven, our styling is educated and thoughtful, and our results are exceptional. For us, a timeless and cultured aesthetic pays dividends. And it just so happens our philosophy already lands perfectly into the 2026 fashion trend of Calm and Balanced interiors! Who knew your favourite home stagers could be so cool?! 😉

Calm and Balanced Home Staging
A firm home-staging favourite of ours, think solid and well-crafted furniture, a calm and balanced aesthetic and raw minimalism. Warm greys paired with soft creams achieve a style that’s tonal and grounded. Reflecting society and these uncertain times, there are fewer displays of gold, although we are seeing a return of art deco-inspired chrome and aluminium in the right setting.

Home Styling is NOT the Same as Home Staging
Styling can feel like ‘home’ but staging seals the deal!
Styling and staging are terms that may sound similar, but they serve very different purposes. Styling is all about adding your personal and unique touch, whereas staging is a strategic process designed to appeal to potential buyers.
We don’t recommend the following fashions to SELL your home, but they could be the perfect touch when you’re styling your new home for yourself:

Whimsical Playfulness
Life shouldn’t be too serious and pastel escapism is evident in some of the latest colour combinations. Adding a feminine tenderness to interiors, there’s lots of lovely lilac, buttery yellow and joyful spearmint coming through in soft furnishings. However, the romance of these futuristic hues is tempered by vintage rose tones and grounding greens – think deep and murky with an olive twist.

Retro Futurism
It’s the return of Saturday Night Fever and this eclectic style is sure proof that fashion is cyclic! Don’t expect to see a white-suited, high-waisted John Travolta boogying his way into the living room, but the vibe is pure 70s maximalism! Think mustard yellow, burnt orange, jewel-toned disco blues and a soundtrack by The Bee Gees.

Style to Stay, Stage to Sell: We Set Them Apart
While Whimsical Playfulness and Retro Futurism have their place, they’re polarising. Perfect for individuals, these are interior fashions that homeowners might choose to lean into when styling their personal properties.
However, staging a home is a different proposition. It’s about sales. And that’s where we do things differently. We stage a timeless fashion statement that’s going to appeal to the masses, one that highlights the best features of your home without overwhelming the property or stealing the limelight. Sure, we sprinkle fairy dust to produce results that wow, but our staging is seamless and balanced.
And at the end of the day, our inner disco diva does the biggest dance when we stage a property, any property, that’s calm, cohesive and loved by an audience of many!
Call us today and we won’t just stage your home; we’ll deliver a masterclass in cohesion!
