A point of view

Staging a home for the market, many factors come into play. A home’s location and environment; its age and architectural style. When we staged this stunning weatherboard house on Kennedy’s Bush Road, our creative decisions were influenced and inspired by the Hamptons-feel of the house, and in particular the incredible views it afforded out across Christchurch to the Southern Alps. We think this home captures the effortless elegance of the Hamptons while exuding a comfort and charm that’s distinctly local. We would love to show you around.

The sum of different parts

The sheer size of the central living space meant delineating this area into different zones.

Imagining how this space might work, we wanted to take full advantage of all possible viewpoints. The striking kitchen, featuring white cabinets and black granite benchtop leads to a dining area. An adjacent lounge is softly defined through the placement of wicker chairs and large couches, with a square flokati rug underneath. We also tucked a desk into built-in shelving along one wall. The result is functional and fluid, offering various views as you move through the spaces.

Homing in on the Hamptons

With its vaulted ceiling, sweeping timber flooring and abundant natural light, the home evoked a Hamptons feel even before we embarked on staging it. Picking up on this inspiration, we introduced natural materials like jute rugs and wicker chairs, which sit next to crisp white tables in both the dining and lounge spaces. Meanwhile generous couches with a combo of cushions and throws lend comfort and luxury. Sitting between two large square windows and above the gas fire, a rattan mirror is a striking focal point in the lounge and connects visually with a circular world map above the desk.

Blue within, green without

In keeping with the easy elegance of the Hamptons, and harmonising with the leafy green surroundings, we introduced subtle blue tones in the cushions, which popped against the earthy and sandy tones throughout. Following on from this, and tying in with existing drapes, we went with blue accents in two of the bedrooms, and pink in another.

On holiday

Inspired by the serenity and sophistication of the Hamptons, this hillside Christchurch home is crisp and contemporary, yet exudes local country charm. For buyers, it feels like a holiday and a dream home all in one.
